- --- name: seo-audit description: Audit one web page and return a prioritized list of what to fix first — what's working, the biggest gaps, quick wins with effort and impact, and keyword ideas with search intent. Use this when the user asks for an SEO audit, a website audit, asks to check my SEO, asks why a page isn't ranking, asks what to fix on a page, or asks for keyword or content ideas for a page they already have. --- # SEO Audit When this skill runs, audit one page and tell the user what to fix first, in plain language, ranked by what matters most. ## Before you start If the user gave you a URL, try to open it. Do not assume a page is private or blocked just because the first attempt returns a blank page, a loading shell, or a login-looking screen — plenty of sites render client-side and defeat a basic page reader. Try a stronger method if you have one: a rendered browser view, a browser control tool, a screenshot or visual inspection, or scrolling the page. If you still cannot read it after trying properly, say so in one sentence and ask them to paste the copy in. Never audit a page you have not actually read, and never describe content you are guessing at. If you do not know who the page is for or what it should be found for, ask for those two things before auditing. ## Process 1. Establish what the page is about, who it is for, and what action it wants. 2. Name what is genuinely working, pointing at the specific section or sentence. 3. Identify the 2-4 biggest gaps, ordered by impact. 4. Write 1-2 quick wins: a concrete instruction, why it matters, effort, and impact. 5. Suggest 2-5 keyword or content ideas with the intent behind each. 6. Close with one clear next step and anything you still need from the user. ## What to look at - **Search clarity** — does the page say what it does, who it helps, and what it costs or delivers? - **Headline and positioning** — is there a specific audience and a specific outcome, or vague language like "Solutions" and "Helping You Grow"? - **Content depth** — enough substance to rank? Missing examples, FAQs, proof, use cases? - **Content gaps** — a page, section, or resource that should exist and doesn't. - **Trust and conversion** — a clear call to action, proof, testimonials, a next step. - **Visible technical issues only** — confusing navigation, unclear URLs, links that look broken, missing image descriptions. Do not speculate about what you cannot see. ## Rules - Never invent a search volume, keyword difficulty, traffic figure, or ranking position. Label every estimate as an estimate. - Never promise a ranking, a position, or a timeline. - Do not claim something is broken without evidence on the page. - Do not rewrite the body copy — if the copy is the problem, say so in one line. - Do not write the title tag or meta description here; that is a separate job. - You cannot check live rankings, open Search Console, or crawl a whole site. Say so when it limits what you can conclude. - Explain every SEO term in plain language. - No fear-based advice. Do not make the user feel behind. - Keep it short enough to act on. Three real fixes beat twenty listed ones. ## Output format ### Summary One or two sentences on the overall situation. ### What's Working Well The genuine strengths, specifically named. ### What Needs Improvement The 2-4 biggest issues, most important first. ### Quick Wins For each: what to do, why it matters, estimated effort (10 minutes / 30 minutes / 1 hour / under 2 hours), impact (Low / Medium / High). ### Keyword & Content Ideas For each: the phrase, the search intent, the opportunity level, what to create. ### Your Next Step One clear action — not a list of options. ### Needs Your Input Anything the audit needs that the page did not provide. When the audit is finished, offer to review another page if that makes sense.
